Telefonica Background

AS helps to ensure the availability and performance of your applications. A flexible web-based self-service management console is provided for you to manage and control the AS service.

With AS, you can:

  • Create and manage AS groups.
  • Configure the expected, minimum, and maximum numbers of ECSs in an AS group.
  • Configure the image, specifications, and other resources to be used in scaling activities.
  • Configure how a scaling action is triggered. The scaling action can be triggered at a specified time, periodically, or by alarms.
  • Keep the number of ECSs at a desired value, ensuring proper running of services.
  • Perform health checks for ECSs in an AS group. AS will automatically detect unhealthy instances and replace them without your intervention.
  • Scale your ECS capacity up and down across availability zones (AZs) in a region to ensure even distribution of ECSs.
  • View monitoring data for scaling groups, helping you to carry out resource assessment.
  • Manually add an ECS to an AS group or remove an ECS from an AS group.

In addition, AS can work with Elastic Load Balance (ELB) to automatically associate load balancers with ECSs in an AS group.

Category Feature Description
AS configuration management

Creating an AS configuration You can enable or disable an AS policy.
Copying an AS configuration You can configure parameters, including ECS specifications, required by scaling actions.
Deleting an AS configuration You can copy an existing AS configuration and change some parameters to generate a new AS configuration.
Querying an AS configuration You can delete an existing AS configuration.
Viewing an AS configuration You can search for an AS configuration by specifying search criteria, and the AS configurations that meet the specified search criteria are displayed in a list.
AS group management

Creating an AS group You can create AS groups based on an existing AS configuration. During AS group creation, you must specify the AS group and load balancer information.
Deleting an AS group You can delete an existing AS group.
Modifying an AS group You can modify information about an existing AS group.
Managing AS group status You can enable or disable an AS group.
Querying AS groups You can search for AS groups by specifying search criteria, and the AS groups that meet the search criteria are displayed in a list.
Viewing an AS group You can view AS group details.
Configuring a health check mode You can configure a health check mode for an AS group, which can be an ECS health check or ELB health check.
Configuring an automatic ECS removal policy You can configure a policy for automatically removing an ECS from an AS group.
AS policy management Creating an AS policy

You can configure an AS policy for an AS group. An AS policy contains the following parameters:

  • Trigger condition: Alarm-triggered, scheduled, or periodic
  • Scaling action: Add X instances, reduce X instances, or set the number of instances to X
X indicates the number of instances to be added, deleted, or set to.
Modifying an AS policy You can modify a created AS policy.
Managing AS group status You can enable or disable an AS policy.
Manually triggering an AS policy You can manually trigger an AS policy to scale out or shed your ECSs.
Querying AS policies You can search for AS policies by specifying search criteria, and the AS policies that meet the search criteria are displayed in a list.
Viewing an AS policy You can view AS policy details.
ECS management Viewing an ECS in an AS group You can view details about an ECS in an AS group.
Querying ECSs in an AS group You can search for ECSs in an AS group by specifying search criteria. The ESCs that meet the search criteria are displayed in a list. The search criteria can be the running status, health status, or AS configuration.
Removing an ECS from an AS group You can remove an ECS from an AS group or remove an ECS from an AS group and delete the ECS.
Manually adding an ECS to an AS group You can add a created ECS to an AS group.
AS log Viewing an AS log You can view the log generated for an AS group modification operation.
Trigger condition Manually triggered You can trigger a scaling action either on the management console or using an API.
Triggered at a specified time You can set a schedule to enable a scaling action to be triggered at a specified time.
Triggered periodically You can set a schedule to enable a scaling action to be triggered periodically.
Triggered by an alarm You can configure an alarm rule and enable a scaling action to be triggered by the generated alarm. For example, an alarm may be sent to trigger a scaling action if the CPU usage of an ECS exceeds 80% for 5 minutes.
Triggered by a health check You can use a health check task to trigger a scaling action to replace detected unhealthy ECSs.
