Telefónica provides a Data Center for stored data, processed and distributed access for consultation everywhere.
What is it?
A Data Center houses and maintains back-end information technology (IT) systems and stores its mainframes, servers and databases.
Historically large, centralised IT operations, this department and all the systems within it would reside in one physical place. Fast-forward to the present, and as they explore how to optimise resources, organisations want more from their systems - virtualisation, fabric-based infrastructure, modular designs and cloud computing.
In the past, Data Centers have typically been stackable tables or cabinets which depended on a large physical space for storage. However, Telefonica’s secure physical Data Centers can host multiple virtual data centers at a lower cost through the process of virtualisation. Online advancements have resulted in a worldwide requirement for additional bandwidth and connection speeds, and this evolution has drawn attention to the necessity for maximum security in the processing of data, reliability and responsiveness for technical problems.
