The customer has grown considerably through acquisitions. This has meant the emergence of a heterogeneous infrastructure across their own data centres and office data halls, which regularly causes serious availability challenges.
They wanted to transform their IT strategy and move to a service based model. This required the exploration of the use of external data centers with the flexibility to adapt to the business growth plans. In addition, they wanted to achieve efficiencies through the consolidation and use of virtual servers
The long term strategy was to move from an IT infrastructure outsourcing approach to a more complex application and sourcing services model with improved integration of the IT and corporate networks.
- Consolidation of the current physical and virtual on-premise estate (more than 300 servers) to the nodes of Virtual Data Center-UK (VDC)
- One Node as the main data center and a second as a backup solution
- Connectivity of the VDC to Peverel sites through the new O2-Gateway MPLS network and integration with O2-Wifi
- Future phases are planned with the implementation of an additional managed services layer
